A native of Toronto, trumpet player/vocalist Marie Goudy started her professional career at the age of sixteen. By the age of nineteen, she had already played with many notable musicians including Benny Golson, Cleo Laine and Maria Schneider. Since then she has played with Michael Buble, Donny McCaslin, Guillermo del Toro, and many others.
She graduated from the University of Toronto's Jazz Performance program with Honours in 2012 and has since made her mark on the Toronto music scene playing jazz, funk, mariachi, folk and Latin music. She has toured across the United States and Mexico with Latin-funk band Pilaseca, and across Canada with rock group Kelly and the Kellygirls.
Marie has played on two JUNO-nominated albums with folk-funk singer/songwriter Alysha Brilla and toured to France, Chile and Yellowknife with that group. She currently leads the R&B-jazz band Alma Soul, for which she is the lead singer and primary composer.
She also is a co-leader of the large jazz ensemble Emergency Musical Services, in which she stretches her compositional wings and also plays lead trumpet. Marie aims to one day teach jazz arranging at a university level and record and tour extensively with Emergency Musical Services.
